Reiki in BrightonI am a qualified Reiki Master practicing in Brighton Sussex. I provide Reiki treatment to clients not only from Brighton but from across the whole UK. I also offer training in Reiki. What is Reiki?Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is thought to have originated thousands of years ago in Tibet and was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk in the 1800's. Reiki has its roots in ancient Tendai/Shingon Buddhist and Tibetan Sanskrit healing practices, is increasingly becoming an established complementary therapy. Today Reiki is practiced in every country in the world and is joining other complementary therapies in the conventional settings of hospitals, hospices, counselling centers, emergency rooms, and intensive care units. Nurses, physical therapists, surgeons, midwives, and anesthetists report that Reiki can help manage pain and promote healing. Counsellors and caregivers treating those with terminal illness find that Reiki gives patients an increased physical, emotional, and psychological ability to cope. Reiki is a natural way of healing using the universal life force energy, which gives energy to all things. By the gentle laying-on of hands, Reiki is a precise method for connecting this universal energy with the body's innate powers of healing. Reiki works simultaneously restoring balance on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Reiki blends with and enhances conventional medicine, and is a valuable complement to other healing modalities.
Research into the esoteric meaning of the Japanese kanji character for Rei has given a much deeper understanding of this ideogram. The word Rei as it is used in Reiki is more accurately interpreted to mean supernatural knowledge or spiritual consciousness. This is the wisdom that comes from God or the Higher Self. This is the God-Consciousness, which is all knowing. It understands each person completely. It knows the cause of all problems and difficulties and knows what to do to heal them. Ki means the same as Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit and Ti or Ki in Hawaiian. Ki is the life force. It is also called the vital life force or the universal life force. This is the non-physical energy that animates all living things. As long as something is alive, it has life force circulating through it and surrounding it; when it dies, the life force departs. If your life force is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow, you will be more vulnerable to illness. When it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick. Life force plays an important role in everything we do. It animates the body and also is the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life. Martial artists in their physical training and mental development use Ki. It is used in meditative breathing exercises called Pranayama, and by the shamans of all cultures for divination, psychic awareness, manifestation and healing. Ki is the non-physical energy used by all healers. Ki is present all around us and can be accumulated and guided by the mind. It is the God-consciousness called Rei that guides the life force
called Ki in the practice we call Reiki. Therefore, Reiki can
be defined as spiritually guided life force energy. This is
a meaningful
interpretation of the word Reiki. It more closely describes
the experience most people have of it; Reiki guiding itself
with
its own wisdom, and being unresponsive to the direction of
the practitioner.

What happens during a Reiki treatment?You remain fully clothed as you lay on the treatment couch. I may burn essential oils and soothing music is played. You can be covered with a warm blanket and you might choose to have a lavender eye bag across your eyes. You lay on your back, head on soft pillows, maybe a pillow under your knees to support your back. Using Reiki, I gently and non-intrusively place my hands on your body from head to toe allowing the Reiki to raise your chi – to improve your energy on all levels. I may then ask you to turn over to do the same on your back. Your Reiki treatment takes one hour.
Brighton Reiki appointments and fees I live in Brighton, Sussex where my clinic is based.
My fees are £35 per hour (supplements, herbs and tests are
extra). If you wish,
you can pay in advance using a debit / credit card (here). Evening
and Saturday appointments are usually available as well as daytime
appointments. If you cancel an appointment without
giving twenty-four hours notice, the full fee will be payable.
