WHAT THIS COURSE IS ABOUT

Nature in all her glory has immense power to heal, inspire and transform us on profound levels. Whether we’re working in our garden, walking through a majestic forest, sitting on the shore, gazing up into the branches of a tree, smelling the roses or trailing our fingers in a stream.  If we’re walking in the rain, staring into the fire, running barefoot on grass or standing on a hill being buffetted by the wind.  When we run our hands over the rough bark of an oak, hold a cold crystal to feel it heat up or inhale the aroma of lavender. This course all about how you relate to nature and how you allow her to touch and change your soul through writing.

HOW JOURNALING INTO NATURE IS DELIVERED

COURSE OUTLINE

The idea of Journaling into Nature is to explore the symbolism of nature through the following themes:

SEASONS:  An example writing prompt: ‘The rebirth of nature after winter. What do you think or feel when you look at nature budding after a long, dormant winter? Do you think humans also experience periods of dormancy and rebirth in their own lifecycles? How so?’

WILD PLACES

FLOWERS AND PLANTS

CRYSTALS, HERB AND WOOD:  An example writing prompt:  ‘The old wooden floor is as many hued as the woodland it was once felled from. Its fate to be cut and varnished rather than to rot on the floor with the centuries of fallen autumnal leaves. The surface is pitted, each mark the start of a story that will never be told. It has been the silent witness to so much life, the good and bad.’

PATHWAYS

FORESTS

TREES:  An example writing prompt: ‘Write a story where trees have thoughts and feelings. Have your main characters be the trees. Trees can only interact with each other.’

ELEMENTS OF EARTH, AIR, FIRE AND WATER

I send writing prompts for each theme so you can create a 800 word piece of writing.  In reading your work, I raise observations and questions encouraging your mindful interaction with nature.
