CPD FOR COMPLEMENTARY
THERAPISTS: INDIVIDUAL TUITION
Continuing
Professional Development, CPD, Brighton, Sussex, with Laurel Alexander
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the process whereby
complementary therapists take responsibility for their own learning
and development and apply it to improving their professional
practice in the interests of clients and the development of the
profession.
The term CPD is used to cover all relevant activity undertaken
by complementary therapists to maintain, enhance and develop
existing knowledge and skills following the completion of their
professional
practitioners’ qualification. There is increasing pressure on all registered complementary therapists
to keep a CPD Portfolio and CPD may soon be compulsory
The benefits of these one-day workshops are to:
-
Experience and develop new approaches
- Gain further professional satisfaction, enthusiasm and confidence.
- Assess your own practice, and through personal reflection focus
your energy effectively on areas for development.
- Gain greater esteem for the profession in the eyes of the public
with a likely increase in client numbers
- These workshops are uniquely designed with complementary therapists
in mind and will provide evidence of CPD as well as improving
your professional practice.
The CPD workshops are delivered on a 1-2-1 basis in order to
focus on your specific needs. The one-day workshop
can be at any time
to suit.

WORKSHOPS
Helping Skills for Therapists
As therapists, we need a range of quality communication skills
to assist us in being more effective when helping clients. This
workshop looks at how we can improve our client care skills through:
active listening, effective questioning, showing understanding,
positive verbal and non-verbal body language and providing constructive
feedback. We also explore how to facilitate change in clients and
how to identify and maintain boundaries.
Helping Clients Create Healing Rituals
Clients come to us for TLC, treatment and practical advice. But
healing is also about facilitating the client to take positive
action for themselves. This workshop will guide you into creating
meaningful healing rituals for yourself as well as teaching you
how to help clients create rituals for themselves. Suitable for
acute, chronic and terminal conditions.
Serenity Medicine
The safest way to heal is to let Nature do the work. This requires
nothing from us. And the more nothing we can provide, the more
effective serenity medicine is. Unplug the phone, leave the computer
turned off, enter the silence, cultivate acceptance, abandon the
mind's ceaseless control, and be here now. This workshop opens
you to experience the four cornerstones of Serenity Medicine: mindfulness,
entering the silence, self acceptance and listening to our bodies.
Healing Power of Journaling
The written word can be a profound mindbody technique to use
with clients to aid the healing process. This workshop takes
you on
a journey of insight and self discovery which you can use for yourself
and with your clients. Suitable for acute, chronic and terminal
conditions.
Using Imagery in Wellness
Imagery is using the power of the mind to facilitate healing
of the body. This workshop offers techniques so that you can
guide
your clients into using “active imagination” which
will engage them in their healing processes. Suitable for acute,
chronic and terminal conditions.
Developing the Healer’s Energetic
Anatomy
It is through our energetic anatomy (chakra system and auric
field) that we take in and give out the subtle energies which
provides
the building blocks of our healing practice. Come on this workshop
and reconnect to the most profound of energies for the wellbeing
of yourself and your clients.
Providing Non-Medical Nutritional Guidance
Good nutrition is one of the building blocks of good health
and is something clients can do to help themselves. This
workshop guides you through the basics of healthy eating,
how to recognize
food
intolerances and allergies in clients and knowing when to
refer a client on to a qualified nutritionist.
Crystal Healing
Using crystals in healing work can be a profound experience
for healer and client. This workshop covers: grounding,
protecting and cleansing (self), crystals and Earth energy,
energetic
anatomy,
working with energy, cleansing and charging crystals,
crystal shapes, healing with crystals and meditation with
crystals.
Relaxation training
Most clients would benefit from physical relaxation.
This workshop will teach you the basics of progressive
muscular
relaxation,
autogenic training and breathing techniques which
you can then coach your
clients in.
Reiki
Reiki has three degrees of competency. First-Degree
Reiki is suitable for body-work therapists. Second-Degree

is suitable
for talking
therapies (you can only do this degree after
successful completion of First-Degree Reiki). Third-Degree
Reiki involved deepening
the Reiki experience and includes teacher level

degree after successful completion of First and
second-Degree Reiki). Please click here for further details.

Essences.

patients during all stages

Many cancer patients are looking for integrated
cancer care and seek out complementary
therapists to help
manage the
side-effects of cancer treatments and
to help deal with the cancer journey
itself. This workshop will help set
out what cancer patients are looking
for in relation to treatment and how
we can help make their journey
easier.
Holistic Pain Management While painkillers can be of great use to clients, self-help methods
of pain management are also desirable. Not only for medical reasons
but also as a tool of empowerment for the client. This workshop
will introduce you to several practical and easy methods of pain
relieve which you can pass onto your clients. Suitable for acute,
chronic and terminal conditions.
Anxiety Management
Clients often present in anxious states which can impede the
healing process. The anxiety may be a learned response which
may precipitate
various conditions e.g. high blood pressure or the client may
have a condition which elevates their stress threshold. This
workshop
will help you understand the stress response and offers different
solutions when helping the client help themselves. Suitable for
