Natural
breast cancer care in Brighton, Sussex, with Laurel Alexander
I am a qualified reflexologist and nutritionist practicing in
Brighton. By combining these therapies alongside Reiki, I provide
natural breast cancer care alongside conventional breast cancer
treatments.
My Work With Breast Cancer Clients
I took the opportunity, when recovering from breast cancer,
to re-evaluate my working life and retrained in complementary
healthcare at the ripe old age of 40. I started with reflexology
and moved onto stress management, nutrition and Reiki.
During this time I became a volunteer with the then Nigel
Porter Unit (for breast cancer) at The Royal Sussex County
Hospital in Brighton (it’s now called the Park Centre
for Breast Care); helping women who were preparing to go
through breast cancer surgery. As time passed and I gained
more experience in complementary healthcare, I approached
the Unit to offer my skills.
For 9 years I worked as a complementary therapist specializing
in complementary breast cancer care, with clients referred
to me for treatment by the NHS via the Park Centre for
Breast Care, Royal Sussex County Hospital and GPs.
I have written a Patient's Newsletter for the Centre
and facilitated a therapeutic writing group for patients
and
survivors of breast cancer for the Centre.
I have also worked for the Sussex Cancer Centre, at
The Royal Sussex County Hospital as a complementary
therapist
and have been a visiting lecturer at the Institute
of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Brighton
on the
Cancer Nursing

What is natural breast cancer care?
If you are traveling the breast cancer journey, you are likely
to feel a variety of emotions ranging from fear through to anger.
I can provide you with a safe space to talk. As someone who has
been on this same journey, I can understand what you may be feeling
and what your thoughts could be. I can help you feel more positive
about what is happening in your life and regain some sense of control
again.
As part of your breast cancer journey, you may be undergoing
a range of conventional treatments and want to complement these
with
natural healing. I can offer you a wide range of therapies to
help relieve some of the distressing side-effects of breast
cancer treatments.
As well as reflexology and nutrition, I also use the following
therapies as part of natural breast cancer care: imagery, cognitive
restructuring, flower essences, relaxation therapy and natural
pain management.
Breast cancer clients see me pre-surgery and post operatively.
Many are on hormone therapy and need help dealing with menopause
symptoms. I support clients going through chemotherapy and
radiotherapy and work with secondary breast cancer clients.
I also work with family and carers of breast cancer clients.

Brighton natural breast cancer care appointments
and fees
My clinic is based in Brighton, Sussex. My fees are £35
per hour (supplements and herbs are extra). If you wish, you can
pay in advance using a debit / credit card (here). Evening and
Saturday appointments are usually available as well as daytime
appointments. If you cancel an appointment without giving twenty-four
hours notice, the full fee will be payable.
